Rosenberg & Rodriguez Personal Injury Lawyers ScholarshipThis year’s scholarship essay competition has closed, and we’re no longer accepting entries. Winners will be announced on July 15th, so if you applied, stay tuned.

A Strong Year of Applicants

First, thank you. Submissions came in from high school seniors across the country right up to the July 1 deadline, and the standard was high. These were not easy essays to write. Applicants shared personal stories, some their own and some belonging to people close to them, and they did it with real honesty. Reading them is always the best part of running this program.

Choosing the standouts among them was not easy. We’re confident in our selections, and we’re looking forward to sharing them.

A Reminder of the Prompt

This year’s theme was “Real Stories: The Ripple Effect of Negligence.” Applicants interviewed someone who had been injured through negligence, or reflected on an injury of their own, then wrote a short essay covering:

  • What happened and what caused the injury
  • The physical, emotional, and financial effects on the person and their family
  • The actions or failures that led to the harm
  • Steps that might have prevented it
  • What the experience taught them about safety and responsibility

The point was to get young writers thinking about how one careless moment can reach well beyond a single person. The essays we received did exactly that.

About the Award

The program was open to graduating high school seniors heading to a college or university this fall. Three of them will receive an award:

  • One Grand Prize of $2,000
  • Two Runner-Up awards of $500 each

Funds are paid straight to the recipient’s school, so winners have nothing extra to handle on their end. Judging was based on merit alone, with financial need left out of the decision.

What Comes Next?

We’ll announce the winners on July 15th. Recipients will hear from us directly, and we’ll post the results once everyone has been notified. If you entered, keep an eye on your inbox around that date.

Thank you again to everyone who took part. Programs like this one matter to us at Rosenberg & Rodriguez Personal Injury Lawyers because so much of our work comes down to holding people accountable when carelessness causes harm.
